Architecture vs Interior architecture vs Interior Design

Architects are adept at structural problem-solving and creative design for both exterior and interior building design. Interior architecture focuses on the functionality of a space. This form of architecture is often confused with interior design, which focuses more on aesthetics.

Interior architecture is the practice of sensitively and innovatively redesigning an existing interior space, while respecting its historical value.

Their goal is to create functional, stylish spaces that meet the aesthetic and operational needs of their clients. They keep governmental regulations and electrical systems in mind as they design blueprints, budgets, timeline schedules and material lists.

The title 'interior architect' is used frequently in the architecture/design industry, even though it isn't a title that is officially recognised in some countries, however in some European countries Interior Architects are recognised and regulated by boards such as BIID OR SIBD in england, and Architects are regulated by RIBA. It's usually adopted by either: a qualified architect who specialises or works only with the interior techincal elements of construction.

While architecture deals with enclosure and envelopes of a structure, Interior Architecture courses deal with creating a balance between aesthetics and practicality; it also has an emphasis on functional and environmental design with an intuitive thought towards a human-centric approach.

Architects may focus on the home's exterior design elements as well as interior floor plans. In some cases, they may also be involved in designing cabinetry and selecting elements like tile, flooring, and lighting. In some cases, architects may have their own interior designers on staff — but not all.

Whilst the term Interior Architect is commonly used in some countries, but for majority of the world most catalogue people under interior design.
